Obliviosity

A quick post for all you folks waiting in anticipation of _The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion_: the “Official Elder Scrolls Site”:http://www.elderscrolls.com/ has been updated. The kind people at Bethesda Softworks have seen fit to give us information on “combat skills”:http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/codex_combatskills.htm, “magic skills”:http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/codex_magicskills.htm, “stealth skills”:http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/codex_stealthskills.htm, and “birthsigns”:http://www.elderscrolls.com/codex/codex_birthsigns.htm. Not much has changed significantly since _Morrowind_ (at least, insofar as descriptions go), but the skills seem to have been streamlined somewhat.

I’m looking forward to Oblivion, but I think a ridiculously powerful computer is going to be required.

Hey, welcome to the website! You are my first official commenter (the only other comments on this website were written by myself and my wife, as tests). At any rate, you’re probably right about Oblivion’s system specs. On the other hand, Morrowind was kind of the same way, and I was able to play it on a computer that only had half the required RAM and a video card one generation earlier than required. The framerate was a little chuggy at times, and I didn’t get to see the fancy pixel-shaded water, but it was entirely playable. I’m hoping that Oblivion scales in a similar way; the graphics are very pretty, but I’m mostly looking forward to things like Radiant AI.
